| Be careful when eating seafood in a new country lest you have an allergic reatioI went to the Philippines and ate the famous seafood for a week. My vacation was for two weeks and I was looking forward to stuffing my face with even more seafood the second week however I became deadly ill on the first weekend there. I started breaking out in hives and having a lot of trouble breathing, so much that the restaurant I was in had to call an ambulance to rush me to the hospital. Turned out I'd eaten shellfish and had an allergic reaction...the first one in my life. When I quizzed the doctor about this, he said that when your body is accustomed to other meat with only sporadic exposure to shellfish, then you eat a ton of it, your body reacts and in my case, it was an allergic reaction.Link: Dining at the Dampa (seafood); Philippines |
