Ask anyone to describe Malaysian food who's never been there, and they'll definitely draw a blank. They might talk about a mix of Chinese food or Indonesian, and that would be pretty close to the truth, according to Scott Kwan, the owner of a Malaysian restaurant located in Vancouver.~~

The specialty which keeps the regulars coming is a spicy soup called laksa. Explaining what laksa is might be the same as explaining what Malaysian food is, as laksa can be quite diverse. The two main requirements seem to be: make it spicy and make it in a bowl.
