Your Location (city, etc)
Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Indian Cuisine is gaining popularity in the world. Also it is as varied as the Indian Continent itself! I want to give glimpse into our cuisines and make a platform to promote Indian Food.
I am sure evrybody will love it
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I am a foodie and love cooking. Over a period of time I would also like to open a chain of restaurants. And may be export food stuff like pickles etc. I felt I could get a feeling of the market by putting up my recipes in a website.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
mrcook.in is my 1st website and planning for one more in the near future. It is about 2 months old.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Well, just came up with a few names for the website along with my wife. And of courde domain availability also influenced the decision to a certain extent.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
This is a web site with no graphics, pictures etc. The site gives you a macro listing of the categories of Recipes first. Then from there you just can choose your recipe there you are. Also I woul look into the comments regularly and answer the personally. And I aso request all the visitors to share their favorite recipes and make this a great cookbook on web.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Keep it for myself and promote more indian cuisines in time. Would decide over aperiod of time if I should for alternate advertising in my site as I am not selling anything on my site myself.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
At the moment I have started this as a hobby. But yes I wouls as I siad earlier, like to open chain of Restaurants, and mey be this could generate a lot of publicity for the same???
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Would develop it to a really big website with a lot of information in a short span.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes definitely! and hope so. I have planned my steps in detail and I guess it only a matter of time and effort before that happens.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Time factor has been a big constraint. Otherwise I guess I am on my planned budget.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Make time to develop the website. And learn all the basics by myself!
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
So far I have tried Link exchanges and Traffic Exchange. I have had some success with both. I do not want to spend on marketing my site right away. May be in a month or so.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Thought it would be all easy! But its a ocean out there! Not to mention to find ways to create traffic for my site!
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Any ways I am not going to concede defeat. I will and will generate interest out ther and shall keep this site always!
The biggest negative impact of running a website?
well be ready to be lured in by all those trying to market leads and traffic to your website, and get a lot of spam mail in return! Manage your mails.
