What inspired you to launch your own website?
I read about affiliate programs, and decided to try and find out how it works.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website and I launched it 2 weeks ago.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I looked for free .com webadresses, and found that cooking-bookstore.com was free.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I sell both Cookbooks and eBooks in the same "store"
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My first goal is to earn my investment back again. This means time (about 30 hours so far) and the price of the webaddress.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far I haven't earned anything. But I just started the site, and I'm not yet listed i directories. So people don't find my store yet...
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
No big changes. Developing the homesite was very cheap.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I will probably have to move the site to a paid webhotel. But otherwise no problem.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Nothing yet :-)
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is to get traffic on my site: SEO
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
No big success yet... I get some visitors from my reciprocal link partners.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Thought it would be easier and faster to get registered in directories. But this is a very slow process.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It's been up for 2 weeks now, and I'll continue as long as it doesn't cost me money to continue.
